The few men they capture on film all seem to be creeps, trying to lure her away to their houses for what are undoubtedly dark purposes. Presumably inspired in some way by the popular catcalling video from a couple weeks ago, this video has an actress pretending to be drunk and staggering around Hollywood to see how men treat her. This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from. So basically I’m weeping at my desk on a Friday afternoon and it’s all Sainsbury’s fault. Then, of course, I had to watch the Google “It Gets Better” ad and started crying even more. I just went to YouTube to get a link to the Google “Parisian Love” ad to use as an example, and watched it twice and started crying at my desk. I mean, I cry during lots of commercials.
(That is not a euphemism, but oh how I wish it was.) Sure, it’s cynical in lots of ways-chiefly, using a nightmarish war that killed millions of people to advertise a supermarket-but damned if I didn’t get teary watching it anyway. I, it shows German and British soldiers enjoying a cease-fire game of football and singing carols together, and sneaking chocolate into each other’s pockets. They’re usually sentimental, but 2014’s is a real doozy. Sainsbury’s, one of the biggest supermarket chains in the U.K., puts out a long Christmas advert every year.
